Schools have been relying on costly biometric and RFID-based solutions to manage time attendance for teachers and other personnel. Although K12NET has existing API’s to integrate third parties and pull staff attendance data, the need to provide an in-built feature has arisen. Our development team has come up with a practical approach to use the geolocation of school staff as a verification measure while checking in at the school.
All school staff is now able to check-in and check-out by using K12NET mobile apps and web interface. The system simply verifies the proximity of the user’s location to the coordinates of the school and creates a time-in record in the Staff Attendance module. The same process is repeated while leaving the school premises as well.
With this novel feature, schools can now enroll in a viable and efficient time attendance system while avoiding hefty costs and maintenance requirements associated with facial recognition, fingerprint scanning, or RFID systems.
